The 2003 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for Audiologists is available on ASHA’s Web site at http://professional.asha.org/resources/reimbursement/MFS_index.cfm.
The fee schedule provides a listing of all procedures used by audiologists, the actual national average payment amounts, and three methods for accessing the exact payment figure based on provider geographic location. In brief, most audiology rates increased from 5-7% for 2003. A few technical components were more dramatically affected, such as caloric vestibular test (92543-TC) that increased 71.3% and the spontaneous nystagmus test (92541-TC) that decreased 25.6%. ASHA continues to present practice expense information to the AMA to ensure appropriate values are placed on our procedures.
