Public school speech-language pathologists are increasingly finding themselves in supervisory roles. Barbara Moore-Brown, a speech-language pathologist who serves as a special education director, provides insight and suggestions for mastering the role of supervisor in the public school setting.
School-based speech-language pathologists increasingly find themselves in the role of supervisor. This role has various dimensions, including the types of persons the speech-language pathologist supervises and appropriate methods of supervision. As the school-based clinician’s responsibilities extend into multi-layers of supervision, clinicians working in this setting must understand professional trends and examine models for implementing supervision, in order for this experience to be successful for both the supervisor and the supervisee.
