Welcome to the inaugural column of “Public School Talk.” I want to thank the Steering Committee for identifying the value of addressing public school administrative and supervision issues. This column is intended for
  1. Public school administrators and supervisors;

  2. Colleagues in other settings who refer clients and their families to public school programs; and

  3. University administrators and supervisors who train future public school clinicians. That should cover most readers!

For this column, I’ve chosen to address IDEA 1997, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 1997, in particular the administrative and supervision implications for public school speech-language and hearing programs. I’d like to develop future columns based on Division 11 membership interests. What topics would you recommend? What topics are most relevant to you? Do you have an opinion or perspective you would like to offer? Is there someone you think would be an ideal columnist on a particular topic? Contact me with your thoughts:
