The practice of speech-language pathology and audiology has now become a business. We cannot afford to approach our practice without a consideration of health care financial management business concepts. This article outlines the importance of these business concepts in today’s practice of speech-language pathology.
Speech-language pathology is our business. That’s right…. it’s our business! We “sell” our expertise and professional services, and we make money in the process. It is important that we sell enough service and make enough money to cover all expenses and continue to reinvest in the business. If we don’t, we are unable to stay in business and continue to provide services for those who need them. That’s a simple business principle.
