This is the annual Convention issue of our Newsletter, so I want to begin by strongly encouraging each and every one of you to book that flight to San Francisco right away. ASHA Conventions are wondrous events. I have never walked away from one disappointed that I chose to spend my continuing education money on Convention. And it is one of the few conferences for which I’ll dip into my own pocket when the CE funds just aren’t there.
Exciting things are afoot in Division 11. At the end of August, the Steering Committee submitted an application to ASHA for Continuing Education Sponsor status. Having sponsor status will allow the Division to offer continuing education units associated with this Newsletter. It will also allow the division to sponsor workshops and conferences as requested by affiliates in the 1999 Needs Assessment Survey. The Steering Committee anticipates having our application approved and achieving sponsor status for the year 2000. When this occurs, affiliates will receive instructions regarding how to sign up for continuing education units. It will involve reading the newsletter, responding to a set of questions for each article, and mailing the responses to the CE Coordinator. More details to come… overall, it’s pretty simple.
