Supervision has been a hot topic in 2013! The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA's) Board of Directors Ad Hoc Committee on Supervision met in January and will be meeting again in August, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) accepted a white paper on “Preparation of Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Educators,” and ASHA's Board of Directors approved the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Scope of Practice document as ASHA policy. Our Special Interest Group's (SIG's) online community also has been one of the most active SIG communities, with members posting on and discussing a wide range of topics.
As in past years, SIG 11 had a table at the ASHA Schools Conference to promote awareness of issues pertaining to administration and supervision and the benefits of SIG affiliation. Many affiliates who attended the conference stopped by and picked up our bright green “Supervision Matters” stickers to attach to their badges. Thank you to one of our Perspectives editorial review board members, Jean Jackson, for representing SIG 11 and taking care of our table!
